Zenless Zone Zero Mascot “Bangboo” Introduction: Which one is your favorite?

Bangboo’s presence is ubiquitous in Zenless Zone Zero; it can be said that humanity’s ability to “survive in the cracks” of this post-apocalyptic world is inseparable from Bangboo.

Bangboo is an advanced AI, and its help is indispensable whether it’s for exploring Hollows or everyday life. Our protagonists, the Ropemaster siblings, also use Bangboo as a hub to guide agents in their exploration of the Hollows.

In the game, Bangboo replaces the traditional four-member team with a three-member team plus one Bangboo. Bangboo is fully controlled by AI, so players don’t need to split their attention to control it. Having an extra helper in battle significantly reduces the difficulty of tough encounters, helping players choose the right Bangboo for their team to achieve the effect of 1+1>2.

There are three types of Bangboo: DPS, Utility, and Support, along with a special Bangboo called Eous.

Eous

Eous is one of the specialized Bangboo units for Phaethon, wearing a scarf labeled with the number 01 around its neck. During Phaethon’s missions, Eous serves as a guide and communication link, helping clients escape from Hollows.

Eous is a support character in the game. While it doesn’t possess much combat ability on its own, players can upgrade and modify Eous with various chips, enhancing its supportive role in exploration and combat. The modifications for Eous can be performed at the in-game “Turbo” mod shop, where players can customize its abilities through chip combinations in the interface. A modified Eous can provide additional assistance during Hollow exploration, though its primary attack method is deploying simple bombs, which isn’t its main function. The design of Zenless Zone Zero Eous is intended to enhance the player’s exploration experience by offering extra support and making gameplay more engaging and enjoyable. Eous’s cute actions and emojis have captured the hearts of many players, with some even expressing a desire to have their own Eous.

Utility Bangboo

There are slightly more Bangboo in this category, with one Utility Bangboo for each element. These Bangboo combine damage and control, helping the team’s breakers quickly accumulate abnormal status values while also dealing decent damage and control effects on the side. Overall, they are well-balanced.

Most mono-element teams choose Utility Bangboo to supplement the team’s damage and control. Selecting a Bangboo with the corresponding element can also activate additional abilities, enhancing the accumulation of abnormal statuses. Currently, teams like Ice, Fire, and Electro use their respective Utility Bangboo to further increase the team’s damage potential.

DPS Bangboo

Recently, Bangboo plushies have become quite popular among players due to their cute appearance, especially the two physical damage-dealing Bangboo, Safety and Amillion. Currently, most players have their Ropemaster levels between 40 and 50, and the level cap for Bangboo is 50. Before reaching level 50, Bangboo’s damage is somewhat limited. However, the difference between levels 50 and 60, though seemingly just 10 levels, results in a significant boost in attack power—about 4500 at level 50 to nearly 9000 at level 60. The skill multipliers also differ, making the damage output dramatically higher.

Among the DPS Bangboo, Amillion is highly recommended, especially for players who have invested in Nekomata. The combination of Nekomata + Anby or Nekomata + Nicole can trigger Amillion’s extra benefits, allowing her single-target damage to even rival Nekomata’s. A single combo can deal six-digit damage. Amillion is also a good choice for teams lacking damage, such as in Chaos teams, where she can provide solid output without disrupting reactions, making her a great fit.

Support Bangboo

Currently, there is only one support-oriented Bangboo, Butler. For now, Butler’s abilities are outstanding; in fact, several A-tier agents rely on Butler to a significant extent for their performance as main damage dealers. Butler’s primary role is energy regeneration, making it crucial for energy-dependent characters, such as Anton in Electro teams.

Butler fits into any team, making it a versatile “jack-of-all-trades.” Especially in Ice teams, Butler can activate its passive abilities. Ice teams don’t really need the minor abnormal status effects from Shark Bangboo, nor do they require Butler to deal damage or shatter ice. Instead, the extra energy regeneration provided by Butler allows Tusk to boost the team’s output, making Ice team damage quite impressive.
